Traditional New Year: Lahu national races held 22nd New Year Festival

In Wan Sein Village of Kyethi Township, located in Shan State (South), the 22nd Lahu Traditional New Year Festival was held in the morning on 28th January with the attendance of Commander of East-Central Command Maj. Gen Myo Min Tun, responsible officials, the chairman of the Lahu National Literature and Culture Association and its members, Lahu ethnic cultural troupes and local residents.

First, the Commander gave a speech of honor, and the chairman of the Lahu National Literature and Culture Association explained regarding with holding the New Year celebration. After that, the youth of the Lahu national races paid respects with the traditional custom of washing the hand of commander and the attendees.

After that, the Lahu national races performed the Lahu traditional round dance. And then, the chairman of the Lahu National Literature and Culture Association received the honorary cash rewards provided by Commander of East-Central Command for the 22nd Lahu Traditional New Year Festival and the Lahu national races dance troupes.
