Traditional Medicines: 18th Anniversary Conference Commenced In Nay Pyi Taw

The 18th Anniversary of the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference and Seminar commenced in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

Vice President U Myint Swe attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech.

The Vice President said the conference and seminar on traditional medicine Practitioners has been held annually in order to meet the Practitioners from across the country and exchange the knowledge.

26 types of research on the traditional medicine which were proposed in the last year conference are planned to implement by the State’s budget. The Government is also scrutinizing for production of authentic and standardized traditional medicines.

He stressed that efforts have to make in the production of traditional medicines and supplementary foods to meet the free trade agreement of ASEAN Economic Community.

He urged all to make concerted efforts for potent traditional medicines to get recognition in the international market and to get intellectual properties rights.

He also called for cooperation with international organizations to promote the standard of Myanmar traditional medicines.

Later, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe read out the message of greetings sent by President U Htin Kyaw.

The Vice President and party later viewed around the booths displaying the traditional medicines.
