Traditional Medicine Conference: Myanmar delegation attended the conference in Beijing

The 2024 World Traditional Medicine Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, People's Republic of Chinaon December 3, 2024. The event was attended by Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win, along with the Chinese Minister of Health from the National Health Commission, health ministers and senior officials from various invited countries, high-level representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), and other distinguished guests.

During the opening ceremony, a congratulatory message from Chinese President Xi Jinping was read, followed by a welcome address by Professor Yu Yanhong, head of the Chinese National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Opening remarks were delivered by the WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific, the WHO Director-General via video conferencing, Mr. Lei Haicho, Chinese Minister of Health, and Mr. Guozhong Liu, Vice Premier of China, marking the official commencement of the conference.After the opening ceremony, a roundtable discussion among health ministers from participating countries was held.

Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win engaged in discussions regarding with ongoing collaboration in the field of traditional medicine with ASEAN member countries and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) nations, annual hosting of a traditional medicine conference with the participation of international traditional medicine practitioners and the current state of such collaborations.

The session concluded with a group photo to commemorate the occasion.The 2024 World Traditional Medicine Conference will continue from December 3 to 4, 2024, bringing together health ministers, senior health officials, and representatives from various countries. Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win, includes the Rector of the University of Traditional Medicine and other officials from the Ministry of Health.
