Traditional Customs: Locals in Chaung Sone enjoy water splashing

On the Myanmar New Year Day on April 17th, people in Chaung Sone Township of Mon State enjoyed water splashing as part of their tradition.

Visitors from the nearby areas came to enjoy this traditional festival, enjoying the Thingyan Celebrations. The visitors were also served with various traditional snacks while applying the Thanakha paste. The celebration is part of the Chaung Sone Township (Belu Kyun) Pagoda Festival which is usually held for about a month starting the first day of Thingyan, the April 13th.
