Traditional Chinlone Competition: Monsoon Tournament organized in Yangon

Myanmar Traditional Chinlone Federation organizes the second Chairman’s Cup Monsoon Tournament at the National Indoor Stadium-1 (Thuwunna) in Yangon.

108 players from 18 Chinlone Clubs across the country are participating in the competition.

The tournament aims to promote Myanmar Traditional Chinlone, Sports and to penetrate this sports into the international events. 

Player, Zwe Mahn Chilone Cluh (Mudon), Htoo Htoo Kyaw said "It’s a great chance for new generation players to player together with the veteran players. I hope them to participate in this kind of competition. We want Chinlone sports to penetrate in the international competition, and would like to urged the responsible personnel to provide assistance for Chinlone sports. "

Myanmar has introduced Chinlone sports at the 27th SEA Games in Nay Pyi Taw in 2013. The sports was also included in the 28th and 29th SEA Games, held in Singapore and Malaysia in 2015 and 2017 respectively. But it did not include in the 30th one in the Philippines in 2019 or the recent one, 31st SEA Games, in Vietnam in 2022. 

Chairman, Myanmar Traditional Chinlone Federation, Hla Htay said "We are recruiting the new generation by conducting training at the basic education schools. Moreover, plans are underway to organize a Chinlone Demonstration Contests. We are going to penetrate to reach Chinlone sports in the international competitions."

Chinlone has played a prominent role in Myanmar for about 1,500 years.

At this tournament, players from all across the country are welcomed to participate and they needs compete in correct playing method under rules and regulations. 

Chief Coach, Myanmar Traditional Chinlone Federation, Khin Maung Win said "I make assessment on the playing technique of the competing players. I am supervising in this competition for the correctness of Myanmar traditional Chinlone playing methods that has been existed sine 1,000 years ago.  "

Chinlone is a non-competitive sport and performance-based one, supporting team spirit among the players.

Audience, Tin Hlaing said "This kind of competition is very good for young people. It also benefits for their health. So, it should be organized such a competition very often. So, the players will have a lot of experience for progress of Chinlone sports. "

Two types of Chinlone events included in the tournament which will be held for 4 days from 23rd to 26th September.
