Tradition & Culture Preservation: Training in Magwe for 23rd Performing Arts Competition

In order to compete in the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition, the contestants representing the Magwe Region are undergoing camp training at Khwar Nyo and Yay Nanthar hostels at Magwe University.

Regional Chief Minister U Tint Lwin, ministers and departmental officials visited the camp and encouraged the 164 contestants.

Instructor, Moe Zaw Myint said "Necessary instruments and basic needs are being provided for contestants as much as possible. Regarding the singing competition, we’re conducting training courses such as vocal and performances - we expect to win at least 3 or 4 awards in the singing competition."

Competitor, Sinbaungwe Township, Juu Sandi Naing said "I will compete in the singing competition (women) aged 10-15 with oldies songs. I have been practiced 3-4 times a day under the guidelines of the instructor and also practice by myself in the hostel. I will try my best to sing with the right beat and key without doing any mistake in the competition. "

Instructor said "There are basic level, advanced level, amateur level and jataka stories competitions. I’d like to say ‘Thank You’ to the government for holding such a competition like this. Tradition is something that we must preserve and shouldn’t be forgotten, so there should be such traditional competitions every year. "

The 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition is set to be held in Nay Pyi Taw on 11th October. It’s to uplift national prestige and integrity and to preserve the cultural heritage and national characteristics, to discover, preserve and uplift the traditional cultural heritage of performing arts of ethnic nationals and national cultural characteristics, to preserve traditional cultural performing arts in order to further revitalize adoration of the State and hand it down to new generation youths and to contribute much to the restoration of perpetual peace.
