




Hosted by the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization of the Ministry of Commerce, a technical training on the production of the value-added products from coconut was held at the meeting hall of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization on Monday.
The training course is being conducted according to the business plan of the “Upgraded production project along the potential product value chain in Ayeyawaddy Region" which is being implemented from May 2023 to April 2024.
At the ceremony, the Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn was in attendance and made a speech. There, the Union Minister said that it is necessary for the trainees to produce coconut-based value-added products through the experiences gaining from the course and to export.
Efforts are being made to increase the export of fresh and dry coconuts from Myanmar, meeting the needs of the growers and manufacturers and cooperation needs to be made for the success of the work plans, he added.
The first day of training continued at the Department of Small-Scale Industries. And, the director from the Department of Research and Innovation under the Ministry of Science and Technology gave theoretical and practical demonstration on the production of value-added products from coconut.
The training course is designed to cover coconut-based food items including ice cream, jelly, oil, milk powder, sweets, charcoal and bath soap. The training joined by 34 trainees is set till Wednesday.
