Trade Promotion: MSMEs Products Exhibition Held In Yangon

Chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Committee, Vice President U Myint Swe graced the 7th edition of MSMEs Trade Promotion Fair and Regional Awards competition ceremony in Yangon, Friday.

An exhibit of local products made by local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with the aim of developing MSMEs and raising the quality of products and long-term competitiveness.  

Vice President U Myint Swe highlights the MSMEs entrepreneurs to apply digital technology in order to improve the quality products and innovative idea to penetrate not only local market but also abroad. 

Over 90 % of the businesses in Myanmar are SMEs and more than 70000 private-owned businesses registered in SMEs.

Director General, Department of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Aye Aye Win said “We encourage the entrepreneur in promoting quality products, technology and good services for export market. We also make effort for the informal SMEs to become a formal one by giving certificate. We are making effort for the entrepreneurs to widen their network through business matching. At present, the government encourages and support in SMEs sector and the entrepreneurs of SMEs need to grab the good opportunity.”

312 booths from private companies and 8 booths from different Ministries are displaying at the expo. The products include traditional foods, drinks, cosmetics, industrial products, handicrafts, electronics and IT products. 

Chairman, Swam Htet Cho Co., Ltd, Kyaw Thu Win  said “We produced about 7 kinds of automatic bakery machines since 10 years ago.”

Most of the bakery industries across the country used our products. We can connect more customers in this fair.  

Owner, Idea Gems Art and Frame, Khin Cho Mya said “We sold mosaic since 1996 and we use the waste gems to create handicraft painting. We also export to foreign countries but we cannot penetrate much more. We produce a lot of designs with Myanmar traditional portrait and painting. We can strive for expanding our markets through this fair.”

MSMEs Trade Promotion Fair and Regional Awards competition will run till Sunday. The similar events are scheduled to hold in Mon State and Taninthayi Region in December and January respectively.

The National level Trade fair and final national competitions will be hosted in Nay Pyi Taw in March next year.
