Trade Promotion: Kenglat Trade Post in Eastern Shan State upgraded

Kenglat Trade Post which was implemented with 2021 Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund was opened in Tachileik district of Eastern Shan State.

The opening ceremony took place on 26th August with the attendance of Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo. In his opening remark, the Union Minister said that relations between Myanmar and Laos People’s Democratic Republic is tied for many centuries.

Transportation access between the two countries are in progress after completion of Myanmar-Laos Friendship Bridge. For promoting bilateral trade, the temporarily opened Kenglat Trade Post has been upgraded.

The Union Minister added that by operating Kenglat Trade Post, bilateral trade will be improved along with the enhancement of friendship between people of the two countries.

Then, the Shan State Chief Minister delivered a welcoming speech and Chinese Commercial Attaché for Myanmar expressed words of congratulations.

Then, the Union Minister, Shan State Chief Minister and invited guests unveiled the bronze plaque of the Trade Post by sprinkling with scented water. They then viewed around the border gate and displaying booths of local products.

After the ceremony, the Union Minister and party visited Myanmar-Laos Friendship Bridge, and the trade post in Maeyang Ward of Tachileik Township. They also met with the staff, and gave instructions on promotion of export processes and eradication of illegal trading.
