Tourism Promotion: Myanmar delegation attended China International Travel Mart

Jointly conducted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism China, Air Traffic Management Bureau and Yunan people’s government, the 2023 China International Travel Mart from 17th to 19th of November, and the 2023 ASEAN-China Tourism Investment Forum on 18th of November jointly organized by ASEAN-China Center and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture were respectively held at Kuming city where Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khaing were in attendance.

On 17th of November, the Union Minster and party attended the opening ceremony of the 2023 China International Travel Mart held at Kunming Duanchi Convention & Exhibition Centre and Nihao Chaian program.

The Travel Mart is aimed to promote tourism related businesses easing the smooth access to destination places and enhance the cooperation works between China and other countries.

Then in the afternoon, the Union Minister and party met with the secretary general from ASEAN-China Center and discussed about the Myanmar-China bilateral cooperation affairs, and plans to organize the tourism promotion and human resources development discussions, trainings and Myanmar tourism promotion.

Next, the Union Minister received news media outlets answering the Myanamr tourism development and cooperation works on tourism between Myanmar and China especially Yunan state.

Continuously on 18th of November, the Union Minster and party attended ASEAN-China Tourism Investment Forum held at Empark Grand Hotel Kumming. There, the Union Minster gave the opening remark saying that efforts are being made under the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-25 and there are many investment opportunities in Myanmar tourism and invited China to be able to make investments in Myanmar’s tourism.

The Chian International Travel Mart 2023 has been held since past 25 years and it is th world’s third largest one. About 900 booths of Tourism organizations, Airlines and Tech institutions from totalling over 70 countries were in the Mart.

On 19th of November, the Myanmar delegation arrived back at Yangon International Airport.
