Tourism Promotion: Dar Pein to become new tour destination

In Myanmar, these seasons every year attract local travelers at most and current local travels rise up to 2 times compared to the past, according to the Union of Myanmar Travel Association. 

In tourism project work plans, Dar Pein of Hlegu Township is going to be added as a new travel destination. Dar Pein (a small town) is located in Hlegu township of Yangon region where locals earn for their living by making sculptures for many years. The art of sculptures from Dar Pein is becoming a successful business receiving international orders.  

Chairman, Union of Myanmar Travel Association, Naung Naung Han, said " We are trying to implement to make a new travel destination in the tourism project. We are selling the travelling packages as much as we can. Some of the foreign tourists are traders of sculptures. Like traders from China and Korea go directly to Dar Pein, learn the business and order with their customized designs. At present, business travels are increasing rather than recreational travel."

From now on, the locals are waiting proudly for the travelers who are going to observe sculpture making business.

Ko Kyaw Swar, Shwe Dar KyawSwar (Sculpture), said "Due to the high flow of foreign travelers relating with sculptures, our village is getting good image. At present, we go to India through their invitation and do sculptures. And I’m continuously moving to Italy. For foreign traveler’s interest, building workplace and making art of sculptures in business related the regions are important. We need to promote our business through various platforms."

Union of Myanmar Travel Association said it is still needed implement guest houses, arrange workplace tours and attract with local foods and products for Dar Pein to become a successful travel destination.
