Tourism Industry: More arrival of visitors since beginning of the year

Since rules and directives to prevent, control and treatment of COVID-19 in Myanmar have been released; there were over 26,000 foreign visitor arrivals through Yangon International Airport during the first two months of 2023. And among them, most of the visitors visit with E-Visa and most were from Thailand and ASEAN countries. 2023 is one of the good potential years of tourism sector. During previous year, over 27,000 foreign visitors visited through Yangon International Airport.

Director, Directorate of Hotels & Tourism (YGN), Nanda Aung said "For the Yangon Region, there was an arrival of totaling 87,506 visitors in previous year. Since the beginning of 2023, tourism industry has been operating and in the month of January, over 16,000 foreigners and over 55,000 local visitors visited through Yangon International Airport and entrance of foreign visitors was increased up to over 20,000 and there is over 40,000 local visitors entry during the month of February."

According to the director of the directorate of hotels and tourism, most of visitors visit with E-visa, business and tourist visa. And also Health Insurance is mostly discharged for the visitors who visit through Yangon International Airport. That’s why the tourism sector will be improved than previous year.
