Tourism Industry: Discussion on Tourism Research Project

Myanmar implemented the Tourism Research Project with the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2021) to draft plans for long-term tourism sector development and accurate tourism statistics. The project was followed by a round table discussion on the Myanmar’s Tourism Revenue Data (2022) and the Domestic and Inbound Tourism Survey (2022) on Wednesday.

During the discussion at the Mingala Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Aung Thaw said that the Tourism Research Project is to develop research tasks for tourism industry, to identify demand and supply of the tourism industry with data or figure, to make plans and strategies for identifying new destinations and to assist the annual plans of the Ministry.

He also stressed that the data from the project will provide assistance to international associations and goals and objectives of the National level projects.The Union Minister urged the concerned officials to cooperate to develop tourism research and statistic sector to set proper policies and goals for the tourism industry development. And, the Tourism Research Project was explained and the attendees made discussions on the explanation.
