Tourism Industry Development: Meeting with officers from the Ministry & private organizations

As the tourism industry is supporting for socio-economic development of the locals, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is implementing for the long-term sustainable development of the industry in cooperation with relevant ministries, region/state governments and hotels and tourism associations.

On Monday, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung held meeting with directors-general, staff, Chairman of Myanmar Tourism Federation and Brothers Associations and members, Chairmen and secretaries of Hotel Zones and Travel Associations in the respective regions and states and officials through hybrid system and discussed the Prime Minister’s guidelines on tourism industry and destination as well as arrangements for tourism industry development to attract local and foreign tourists.

At the meeting, the Union Minister said that the Ministry is implementing for long-term development of Myanmar tourism industry by drafting long and short term plans, policies, rules, pros and corns in cooperation with hotels and tourism associations.

Moreover, it is carrying out for human resource development that is essential for tourism industry development by organizing workshops and factories. In 2022, the arrival of foreign tourists from January to December was 78% more in compared with that in the previous year.

The government is undertaking granting entry visa, reoperating international flights and relaxing health restrictions to revitalize tourism industry. In doing hotel industries, it needs to carry out the hotels in line with characteristics of the city as well as try to provide health and safety services.

As the Ministry has drafted necessary plans to attract local/foreign tourists, the hotels and tourism associations and the business operators are urged to cooperate in the tasks.

Later, the Chairmen of Myanmar Tourism Federation and Myanmar Hotelier Association and attendees discussed participation in the plans drafted by the Ministry and future work programs. In response to the reports, the Union Minister fulfilled the needs and called for working together for public-private partnerships.
