Tourism Development: Sagaing Region Tourism Committee meeting

Chairman of the Sagaing Region Tourism Committee Chief Minister U MyatKyaw presided over the Tourism Committee work coordination meeting (1/2025) at the Region Government Office on January 10th.

The Chief Minister stated that tourism creates job opportunities, benefitting the public and earning foreign exchange. He emphasized the need for responsible parties, including the Region Tourism Committee, departments, private entrepreneurs and local organizations, to cooperate in ensuring convenient travel for domestic tourists.

He stressed the need for balanced cooperation to support MSMEs through tourism, which will help the MSMEs grow and access new markets. After the Chief Minister’s speech, the relevant officials reported on the regional tourism industry, the status of Tourism Committee meeting 11/2024 decisions, pending issues and tourist arrival trends.

Committee members and hotel operators shared suggestions on regional tourism, tourist arrivals and cleanliness in tourist destination areas, hotel/lodging course requirements and security conditions. Then, the Chief Minister coordinated the needs on the suggestions and discussions raised by the meeting attendees.
