Tourism Development: Efforts for long-term development of tourism sector

Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Phyo Zaw Soe met with members of the Destination Management Organizations at Shwe San Eain Hotel in Pyin Oo Lwin on 8th February.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister highlighted the sustainable long-term development of tourism sector, human resource development and creating job opportunity for local people. He called for harmonious cooperation among the three pillars of public, private and people to achieve the socio-economic development.

He also added that Pyin Oo Lwin is one of the famous destinations in Myanmar, with historic pagodas, pleasant climatic condition, beautiful natural landscapes, authentic local cuisines and souviniers. He outlines the plans to attract more visitors from home and abroad through upgrading the existing destinations and exploring new destinations.

The Deputy Minister urged local authorities, entrepreneurs and locals to participate in the measures for long-term development of Pyin Oo Lwin. The attendees reported on the current status of hotels and tourism sector and challanges, and the Deputy Minister coordinated the needs.

Next, the Deputy Minister inspected the preparations for accommodation facilities at the Governor’s House and instructed the needs.

The Deputy Minister later met with the staff at the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Pyin Oo Lwin Branch) and encouraged them to be efficient and qualified in their respective work fields while making constant learning for capacity building. Later, the Deputy Minister visited the Information Counter which provides the salient points of the destinations for the visitors to Pyin Oo Lwin.
