Tourism Development: Booming business in ChaungTha and ShweThaung Yan

The number of visitors to natural beaches in Ayeyawady Region is getting increased with over 104,000from January to February 21st this year.

In 2023, the arrival of domestic and foreign travelers reached over 1.6 million in Ayeyawaddy Region.

Since, booming of tourism business contributes for development of socio-economic life of the local residents, the Regional Government is making arrangements for attracting more tourists by offering better services for recreation activities.

In cooperation with the private businesses, the Natured-Based Tourism and Adventure Trips are being implemented at famous beaches in the region. The visitors can experience boat rides in the sea of ChaungTha, Kayaking in the mangrove forests and boat trips for ChaungTha-Ngwe Saung, ChaungTha-NatKyun, and ChaungTha-LeikKyun.

Director, Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Ayeyawaddy, Aung Thu Oo said "For water sports in ChaungTha Beach, the adventure tourism businesses have been made by New ChaungTha Hotel and Best Ocean Bay Company, like Sofa boat, parasailing, donut boat, banana boat, flying banana boat, Kayaking adventure, boat trips from ChaungTha to different islands even Gaw Yin Gyi. In ShweThaung Yan beach only 8 miles away from ChaungTha, Mangrove View Resort Hotel have created Sea and Lake Garden where visitors can experience Wall Climbing, Zip Line Adventure, Quick Jump and so on including study sites for Nature-Based Tourism."

Currently, there are 32 hotels including guest houses, as well as 58 guest houses provided by the Development Affairs Committee in ChaungTha Beach, while ShweThaung Yan Beach provides 6 hotels for accommodation choices of the visitors.
