Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn visited the Media Center in Chuxiong of China on November 14th.

They observed the operation process of the Media Center which was launched in 2018 for online broadcast through various social platforms. The delegation later visited the Natural Garden where the flora and fauna are being preserved naturally, providing recreation spot for the public.

They viewed the display of documentary photos on preserving native peacocks and local products. This was followed by cultural performance of Yi Tribe, with the accompaniment of traditional musical instruments. On arrival at Yi Traditional Digital Embroidery Center, they studied the phase by phase development of the traditional industry which was initiated in 2022 with 13 workshops. Currently, there are over 500 embroidery workshops, achieving market penetration to Paris Milan Fashion Shows with the investments by companies in Shanghai.

The Yi Ethnic Models showcased their innovative embroidery attires, along with the entertainment of Myanmar cultural dance troupes from Myanma Radio and Television and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture. The delegation later visited Tianchi  Lake Scenic Resort and observed the recreation activities and taking refuge of migratory birds.

Tianchi Lake is known as the “Pearl of the Celestial Mountain” which resembles the lake at Summer Palace in Beijing. Situated above 1,886 meter sea level, the lake is 40 kilometer long and 12.5 kilometer wide. Water from the lake flows to the Pacific Ocean via Yangzi River.

It is the sixth largest lake in China and the largest in Yunnan Province. The name of the lake has been used since 109 BC during the reign of Han Dynasty. It is now become a crucial spot for environmental conservation efforts, providing great supports to industry, agriculture, livestock and fishery industries of Yunnan Province.

On the 15th, the delegation left Yunnan from Kunming Airport and arrived back in Yangon in the evening. During their stay in China, the delegation attended China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Week 2024 and 4th Twin City Media Forum.
