Tour in Yangon: Book donation and Peasants’ Day activities

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife donated the Social Science Treatises to the libraries, military headquarters, battalions and units across the country. The handover ceremony of the donated items took place at Yangon Region Government Office on Friday.

Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn made an opening speech, highlighting the government’s efforts for human resource development through the reading habit promoting activities.

He stressed the importance being well-versed with knowledge to counter the misinformation and fake news. This was followed by handover of donated books for 137 libraries in Yangon Region as well as the military headquarters, battalions and units.

During the event, 50 sets of satellites and 100 sets of DTH were donated to Yangon Region as well as 25 million kyat cash donation for the ward and village libraries. After the ceremony, the Union Minister and party took a tour of the displayed booths showcasing the activities on library development and reading habit promotion.

Earlier in the day, the Union Minister and Chief Minister attended the Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Exhibition, commemorating the 63rd anniversary Peasants’ Day. During the event, prizes were awarded to those excelled in agriculture and livestock works.
