Tour in Tanintharyi Region: MONREC Union Minister visits Myeik and Kyunsu Townships

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi met with the staff of Myeik District Forest Department at its office on February 14.

During the meeting, the Union Minister heard reports on forest coverage, mangrove preservation, protected forests expansion, preventing illegal logging and mineral transport, in addition to tackling cross-border smog and reducing fire hotspots. He also instructed to follow laws and regulations and coordinated their needs.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited Pyae Phyo Htun Int’l Company in PyinSaBu Island of Kyun Su Township, and heard reports on pearl farming and production. He also emphasized its economic importance and called for improved cooperation to boost output.

The Union Minister then toured the pearl hatchery, implantation, X-ray inspection and extraction processes. At the Do Mal Island, the Union Minister reviewed pearl farming at Myanmar Tasaki Company and examined the pearls from this month's exploration.

The Union Minister then proceeded to Myanmar Pearl Enterprise on Pearl Island, BokePyin Township, where he reviewed reports on pearl farming, annual sales and industry progress. He urged collaboration with local and foreign companies to align with the department’s long-term goals for sustainable development. The Union Minister then inspected pearl farming and extraction activities and instructed the needs.
