Tour in Tachileik: MOIP Union Minister inspects work undertakings

On 7th November, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, accompanied by relevant officials, conducted an inspection of the border pass processing area and the Wanpon Jetty along the Myanmar-Lao border in Tachileik Township, Shan State (East).

During the visit, the Union Minister provided instructions upon the reports by the officials. The Union Minister then visited the International Entry and Exit Checkpoint at Wanpon Jetty, where he heard reports on foreign vessel procedures, the vessel entries and exits and maritime fee collection.

The Union Minister proceeded to the Maritime Police Force (Wan Pon), inspected the police vessel, and heard reports on the Mekong River security cooperation between police forces of Myanmar and Laos.

At the meeting hall of Maritime Police Force (Wan Pon), the Union Minister discussed the need for advance planning to boost bilateral traffic and trade, in line with the Myanmar-Laos bilateral border region management and cooperation agreement. Key points included the smooth vessel operations, security along the Mekong River and the ability to act promptly if urgent actions are required under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC).

At the No. 2 Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge, the Union Minister inspected immigration operations for truck and passenger entry/exit. He then reviewed border pass (BP) and Temporary Border Pass (TBP) for local residents at No. 1 Friendship Bridge and the issuance of Unique ID numbers via the e-ID system with biographic and biometric data.

Next, the Union Minister visited the Tachilek District Immigration and Population office, inspected flood debris at the district office and staff housing, temporary relocation of documents and equipment and cleanliness preparations.

At Aung Myat Hall in Tachileik Township, the Union Minister met with employees from the district and township offices of Tachileik, Mongtong and MongSat districts and instructed the smooth operation of immigration processes for cross-border entry and exit.

On November 8, the Union Minister visited Tachileik Township Immigration and Population office and inspected the work processes, providing the requirements.
