Tour in Shan State: Irrigation facilities and livestock breeding zone

On 6th December, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw accompanied by departmental officials inspected completion of renovation tasks of damaged Kyee Phyu Lake spillway and shutters due to torrential rainfall during September in Shan State. There, officials presented reports on current work implementation, agricultural water supply.

Upon reports, the Deputy Minister gave necessary instructions on strict monitoring and safety measures and made discussion on sufficient agricultural water supply for monsoon and winter crop plantations. Kyee Phyu Lake is situated near Sele Village in Taunggyi, Shan State (South) and distributing water to over 1,000 acres plantations including monsoon paddy and winter crop plantations.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minister and party inspected construction of auxiliary spillway at Kone Hlaing Lake in Hlaing Bon Tha Ward, Shwe Nyaung Township. There, the Deputy Minister stressed for timely completion of the construction meeting set standards, cleanliness of the dam, systematic calculation of the water intake of the dam due to changing weather patterns and maximum capacity of the spillway. 

Next, the Deputy Minister and party inspected Inntein Diversion Weir and heard reports on agricultural water distribution condition and further renovation tasks. Upon reports, the Deputy Minister stressed on timely implementation of the renovation tasks as per priority lists. He also emphasized on replanting of flood affected farmlands with the concerted efforts of the local farmers and provision of necessary assistance.

Then, the Deputy Minister inspected the renovation works of Inntein Diversion Weir and construction of eathern embankment at the damaged Ywama Creek retaining wall.

On 7th December, the Deputy Minister accompanied by Chairman of the Administration Body of Danu Self-Administered Zone, inspected the designated area for Livestock Breeding Zone at Ngapeinin ground in Nan Kone Village-tract, Pindaya Township.

The Deputy Minister heard reports on types of livestock animals, animal feed as well as water and electricity access. Upon reports, the Deputy Minister provided necessary instructions.
