
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win who is currently in Arkhangelsk, Russia to attend the Arctic Region Safety Exercise Programme 2025 visited Northern Artic Region Federal University on January 30th.
There, the Union Minister together with the Disaster Management Ministers, Deputy Ministers and concerned officials from 25 countries attended the opening ceremony for showcasing of latest innovative technological equipment used for disaster prevention and responses on Arctic iceberg.
Then, the Union Minister observed the roundtable discussion on Arctic Region safety and challenges hosted by the Deputy Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief and Mayor of Arkhangelsk, Rector of the Federal University.
During the discussion, the experts exchanged views on warning issuance for disaster prevention in Arctic Region, as the implementations are underway for disaster rapid response measures.
In the afternoon, the delegation attended the Arctic Region Safety Conference where the participating countries shared their experiences on natural disaster management under severe climate of Arctic region and research on safety.
During the conference, the Union Minister discussed Myanmar’s efforts on implementing natural disaster management by collaborating with friendly countries. Next, the Myanmar delegation attended the dinner reception hosted by the Mayor of Arkhangelsk.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister praised the successful cooperation and exchange programs between the two countries with further strengthening in the future. Following this, the Union Minister expressed his appreciation for providing aids by Russia to flood affected areas in Myanmar.
