Tour in Russia: Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) visits Vladivostok

Chief of General Staff for the (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye left for Russia to participate in the Field Training Exercise organized by the ADMM Plus Experts’ Working Group on Counter-Terrorism.

On September 25th, General Maung Maung Aye and delegation arrived at Vladivostok International Airport, where they were warmly welcomed by the Deputy Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet and officials. In the afternoon, they visited the Pacific Fleet located at the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), where discussions on academic matters took place. They also had the opportunity to observe the preparations for the Field Training Exercise by both the Myanmar and Russian Army Commanding Units.

The official opening ceremony of the Field Training Exercise occurred on September 26th at the Sergeevsky Training Ground. The ceremony was attended by officials from the Russian Army, ASEAN member states, and partner countries. General Maung Maung Aye and the delegation visited the temporary Training Camp where participants were gearing up for the exercise. On September 27th, a meeting was held with the Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet at the House of Naval Officers.

During the meeting, matters concerning the enhancement of relations and cooperation between the two armies and the Field Training Exercise were discussed. In the evening, they attended a dinner reception hosted by the Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet. The delegation continued their visit on September 28th with a visit to the 36th Surface Ship Division, where they were welcomed by the Commander of the Primorsky Flotilla.

They also had the opportunity to tour No.543 Frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov and the 19th Submarine Brigade. On September 29th, General Maung Maung Aye and the officials from the Russian Army, ASEAN member states, and partner countries observed the Field Training Exercise.

At the closing ceremony, the Chief of General Staff delivered a speech. In the evening, they attended a dinner hosted by the Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet. On the 30th, the delegation left Vladivostok and arrived back in Myanmar on 1st October.
