The upper areas of Ayeyawady River in Kachin State were inundated due to the surge of water level caused by consecutive heavy rain in late June and early July this year. The State Government has been providing relief supplies for the flood affected community.

On November 16th, relief supplies were provided to over 1,300  affected individuals from four villages in Naung Chein Village-Tract in Waimaw Township. Over 10.65 million kyat worth of rice were provided by the State Government and the relief supply kits by the Minisry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

After the ceremony, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and officials inspected the measures to prevent floods in Myitkyina. As part of the efforts, plans have been made to construct the retaining wall and sluice gates, along with the clearing of river catchment areas and conducting awareness campaign to the public.
