Tour of Mexico City's new and controversial international airport

Mexico City's controversial new airport was opened up to the media on Monday. Media were shown the air traffic control towers, now fully operational, along with runways and tarmac. The President halted the construction of another airport that was already well under way in Texcoco almost immediately after his inauguration.

The president pushed instead for the construction over the military airbase Santa Lucia adding two runways, some 29 miles north of the Benito Juárez International Airport, then connecting both. The new Felipe Angeles Airport, named after a general who served under Pancho Villa, is expected to be inaugurated on 21 March.
