On 15th September, Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accompanied by Joint Secretary of the SAC, Union Ministers and senior military officials inspected the damaged areas in Bagan Ancient Archaeological Zone due to recent torrential rainfall.
On arrival at Shwezigon Pagoda, the Prime Minister and party inspected damaged brick walls due to severe rainfall, restoration of damaged stairways and maintenance of historical religious buildings. Upon reports, the Prime Minister stressed on systematic restoration of the religious buildings without losing the original structures and preservation of stone inscriptions.
Next, the Senior General met with the Shwezigon Pagoda Board of Trustee and instructed for long term durability of the pagoda, usage of modern technologies in pagoda preservation, emphasizing the convenient of the pilgrims.
Then, reports on current work implementation, preservation tasks and necessities for effective preservation activities were presented respectively. Next, the Prime Minister paid homage to the pagoda and donated flowers and water.
He then inspected the preparations made to offer gold foils for the circumference of the pagoda and made cash donation for all round renovation of the pagoda. The Prime Minister also provided necessary instructions on preservation of World Heritage listed bell inscription of King Bayintnaung.
At Thabyinnyu Temple, the Prime Minister paid homage to the pagoda and inspected the preservation of mural arts and historical artworks, damaged northern arch and gave necessary instructions. On the same day, the Prime Minister visited Singha Brick Temple in Bagan Myothit and inspected the collapsed brick walls and roof due to severe rainfall.
There, the Prime Minister instructed on systematic restoration of the damaged areas keeping original structures and measurements.
