


Tomioka City in Tokyo has begun a trial to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, using a device that generates drinking water from moisture in the air.
The city on Monday set up five water dispensers at facilities including the city hall and a gymnasium.
The machine developer said the device can generate 600 liters of drinking water a day from river water and others, using special filtering technology while the machine can generate up to 33 liters of drinking water a day from the air. The firm also hopes the machine will be utilized in times of disaster.
