Tissue Banana Export to China: Over 170,000 tons from 2022 April to 2023 February

Myanmar has been exporting tissue banana to China via border gates. From April to December 2022, over 34,000 tons of tissue banana were exported to China via Kampaiti and Lweje border gates, and in January and February 2023, over 140,000 tons were exported.

Head, Department of Agriculture, Htay Lwin, said " To China, over 27,000 tons of tissue banana were exported via Kampaiti border gate and over 6,700 tons via Lweje border gate from April  to  December 2022.In January 2023, ( Kampaiti Border Trade was exported  the tissue banana 39123 tons and Lweje Border Trade was exported 14850 tons ) the two border trade camps were exported  totally 53973 tons of tissue banana to China. In February 2023, the two border trade camps were exported the tissue banana 87295 tons. So, we exported to china totally 141268 metric tons of tissue banana during the two month of these border trade camps."

To legally export tissue banana to China, companies have to register at the JACC in China. Currently, the Department of Agriculture daily issues Phytosanitary certificates (PC) to 10 to 200 trucks carrying tissue banana and heading to China. This year, tissue banana fetches more price than last year. Last year, 1 kilo of tissue banana could earn 2.5 yuan and this year, it can earn 5 yuan.
