

3 Professional Chiefs from Myanmar Chefs Association grabbed 5 gold medals, one sliver and one bronze at the Thailand’s 25th International Culinary Cup (TICC) 2019.
The Thailand International Culinary Cup is one of the food famous competitions in Asia. Professional Chefs from regional countries such as South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar participated in the event.
Myanmar got the Best Culinary Team Award for 2019 with 92 marks in the event. All Myanmar contestants were from Myanmar Chefs Association (Nay Pyi Taw) and one of the winning professional Chefs said it was their first experience in oversea event.
Executive Chef, Park Royal Hotel (Nay Pyi Taw), Myo Kyaw Thu said “We won the best culinary team 2019 award and brought elephant trophy. We competed with regional countries such as South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam and won gold prize in the best culinary team category with 92 marks. I drew menu by myself and prepared the culinary thoroughly. We also got bronze medal in the western dish category. This is our first experience in oversea competition.”
The event aimed to show the Chefs’ talents, knowledge, skills and learning experiences from one another, which benefits their further culinary skills. Myanmar Chefs could show their outstanding skills and could bring pride to the nation, the Chairman of Myanmar Chefs Association said.
Chairman, Myanmar Chefs Association, Oliver E Soe Thet said “We got not only five gold medals, one silver and a bronze. We have got the top cup. There is very outstanding and Myanmar chefs can perform that well in the Asia, South-Asia Pacific region. …You see Myanmar can go out in the world and show the pride. People see Myanmar flag and very happy..”
The event was held in Thailand from the 4th to 7th September. The winning Professional Myanmar Chefs arrived back home Sunday after showing their outstanding culinary skills in Thailand.
