Three dead after car plunges into flooded canal

A tragedy unfolded in Sainthamaruthu, Sri Lanka when a car overturned and plunged into the BoraleVely canal during heavy rains. The vehicle, carrying three passengers, was swept by strong currents before the Sri Lanka Army intervened in a dramatic rescue operation.

Army personnel rushed to the scene, braving the raging waters to pull all three individuals to safety. The rescued passengers were immediately transferred to hospital for medical attention. Later it was reported that they had died. Authorities have reiterated warnings for motorists to avoid driving through flooded roads and canals, as extreme weather continues to batter the region.
