Thiri Mingalar Market: Fresh Vegetables And Fruits Retail And Wholesale In Yangon

Thiri Mingalar Market is a large market which is selling fresh vegetables and fruits retail and wholesale in Yangon.

The market was established in 2010 and it has more than 4,000 stalls selling every day.Most of the sellers are dealing trading in this market since its opening more than a decade ago.

Wai Lin, Division Head (YCDC) said “The seasonal fruits especially sugar-apple are started coming from Poppa area and will continue to flow from Pyay Township. The market is selling vegetables and seasonal fruits up to 1.1 million in this year. There are also 9 market stalls with the registered shops and 5 market stalls unregistered in the market. There are total of 4,000 shops of running business daily here.”

The officials also made arrangements for the convenience of the buyers and sellers including health and safety measures.

Wai Lin, Division Head (YCDC) said “For the COVID-19 prevention, the face masks are provided at exist and entrance gates. We also go around with the hand speaker to encourage the sellers and buyers to wash their hands and to wear the face masks. For the security matters, we have been installed 209 CCTVs in the market and being monitored day and night. In order to avoid any case of fire outbreak, we are carefully checking the restaurants whether or not the stove is turned off in the evening.”

During this year, most of the vegetables and fruits which are on sales at the market are transported from Ayeyawady, Yangon and Western part of Bago Region.
