Thingyan in Mandalay: SAC Member attends pavilions opening

Member of the State Administration Council U Maung Ko attended the opening of the Mandalay Mayor Thingyan Pavilion on Thursday evening. This Pavilion opening in front of the Mandalay City Development Committee began with remarks by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and Mandalay Mayor U Kyaw San.

The remarks were followed by performances by Yein troupes and famous singers. People in Myanmar have been celebrating the Myanmar New Year Thingyan Water Festival for 4 days till the 16th of April. Earlier the day, the Member of the State Administration Council U Maung Ko attended the opening of the Zay Cho Thu Thingyan Pavilion and the Mingalar Mandalay Walking Thingyan.

Thingyan is the Myanmar’s New Year Festival that usually occurs in middle of April. The dates of the festival are observed as public holidays throughout the country.
