Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said on Thursday that the main opposition Move Forward Party (MFP) would respect the Constitutional Court’s ruling to dissolve the party, describing its activities as a symbolic display of its political stance. He had discussed the situation with security officials and did not expect any call for major rallies.

The party’s gathering the previous day had been peaceful, he added. The Constitutional Court on Wednesday ruled to dissolve the MFP, saying the party posed a threat to the constitutional monarchy and national security by continuously and seriously campaigning for the amendment of the royal defamation law and banned its executives from politics for 10 years.
