Thailand, Cambodia expected to sign peace pact at ASEAN Summit

Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak expressed confidence that Thailand and Cambodia will sign a joint declaration to normalize their relations at the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which runs from October 26-28.

Mr. Sihasak is slated to attend a key four-party consultation with Cambodia, the U.S., and Malaysia to finalize the document. The agreement includes concrete plans for the withdrawal of heavy weapons, demining the border, cooperating to suppress transnational crime, and managing Cambodian nationals in disputed areas.
