For the first time, the Singaporean navy joined Thai, US, and South Korean forces in amphibious exercises as part of the Cobra Gold military drills in Chonburi, Thailand. The exercises focus on enhancing interoperability for disaster relief, humanitarian assistance, and crisis response.
Colonel Stuart W Glenn, US Marine Corps Commander said "We also are learning different techniques on how to communicate, how to survive in the jungle, how to interoperate with regards to our weapon systems and our tactics, and basically just making ourselves better partners for our allies here with the Royal Thai Marine Corps, as well as our other partners from the Republic of Korea and the Singapore Armed Forces."
Recent training included noncombatant evacuation operations, with lessons from Thai evacuations in Sudan, Israel, and Gaza. Cobra Gold, which originally focused on amphibious landings, now includes a broader range of training, such as civilian assistance and real weapons use.
