Thadingyut mood: Crowds throng pagodas and recreation places

Being the 1st waning day of Thadingyut on Monday, the pagodas and stupas in the respective regions and states were teemed with people who are paying homage, practice meditation and take Precepts as well as remarkable places, parks and recreation places were also crowded with people. 

The sanghas, monks, nuns and people offered lights and paid homage to the Uppatasanti Pagoda, the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon region, the MahaMyat Muni Buddha Image in Mandalay as well as pagodas and stupas in the respective regions and states in line with COVID-19 guidelines.

Moreover, the grand procession of 28 Buddha images was held in Pyinmana Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council area led by the Wut Association. The Buddha Images were conveyed by vehicles to paying public obeisance by visiting around the town and well-wishers donated lights, flowers and cash.

This religious ceremony is held annually on the 1st waning of Thadingyut. Likewise, paying homage to the elders in the respective regions and states, health care services, providing nutritious food and giving charity feast were performed in line with Myanma tradition and customs.

The townships in respective regions and states including Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Yangon and Mandalay were also crowded with pilgrims and people who take recreation and the parks, gardens and beaches are swarmed with the crowds.

Moreover, the colourful lights were illuminated at the roads and beautifying plants in the compound of the office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and the Nay Pyi Taw Water Fountain Park.

The lighting festivals were held in the respective regions and states and the colourful lights were also decorated in the parks and gardens and recreation places for public relaxation.
