Pilgrims were crowded at the pagodas and temples across Myanmar, taking Sabbath, reciting Parittas, paying obeisance to the elder persons, performing good deeds and releasing birds and fingerlings on the 1st Waxing Day of Thadingyut on Friday.

Pilgrims visited the Maravijaya Buddha Image, the World tallest marble curving Buddha Image and Uppatasandhi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, offering oil lamps and performing good deeds. Likewise, Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon Region and Maha Myat Muni Buddha Image in Mandalay Region were teeming with pilgrims.

People also pay obeisance to the elder persons, render health care services, offer nutrition and charity feast while entertaining cultural performances. Being a public holiday day, the expressways and highways have seen crowded commuters, taking their holiday trips.

At the same time, the recreation areas and public parks were teeming with visitors, taking relaxation, enjoying the colourful illuminating of lights and releasing hot-air balloons.
