Terrorist Attack: Cargo Train Derailed by Mine Blast

In an act of terrorism, the DF/2077 Mandalay-Yangon Cargo Train was targeted and derailed by a mine blast. The explosion resulted in the derailment of two engine rooms, one resting coach, and six cargo coaches of the train, which was en route from Mandalay to Yangon.

The incident occurred between Kanyut Kwin and Taw Kyawe Inn on a Friday morning. The blast caused damaging to approximately 150 ft of the rail track, and no injuries were reported.

Later in the afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun oo, arrived at the scene. He provided instructions for swift repair efforts, emphasizing close supervision by departmental heads to ensure a rapid restoration of the rail line and normalcy to the affected area.
