12 civilians, including 5 children, sustained injuries due to a bomb explosion at the Parking Lot behind Mandalay Mayor’s Thingyan Pandal in Chanayethazan Township on Sunday. At around 10:25 am on Thingyan Akya Day, two improvised bombs planted by PDF terrorists blasted among the parked motorcycles, and parts of the devices caused injuries to the revelers.
Security forces transported the injured persons to Mandalay People’s Hospital for medical treatment. In the time of celebrating the Myanmar traditional Thingyan Festival, this kind of terrorist act, targeting innocent civilians, violated the Geneva Convention and can be considered a war crime according to international law. Further measures are being taken to take action against these terrorists.
