The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services issued an announcement on a temporary ceasefire from April 2 to April 22.

The ceasefire aims to promote lasting peace and increase efforts for the peace process. Between December 21, 2018, and December 31, 2023, the Tatmadaw issued ceasefire announcements 22 times. On September 26, 2024, the State Administration Council extended an invitation to solve political problems through peaceful means.

The powerful earthquake on March 28, and the subsequent aftershocks caused significant loss of life, injuries, and infrastructure damage. The government is working diligently on rescue, relief, and recovery efforts in the quake-hit areas. In order to express sympathy for the affected communities and to accelerate these efforts, the Tatmadaw announced a temporary ceasefire from April 2 to April 22, 2025.

During this period, the Ethnic Armed Organizations and other armed groups are urged to avoid actions that harm public communication channels, threaten the lives and property of civilians, attack security force outposts, or interfere with the duties of the military battalions responsible for maintaining law and order.

Additionally, actions such as recruiting forces, reorganizing, or extending territories that could harm peace should be avoided. Any violations of these conditions will result in necessary countermeasures by the Tatmadaw.
