Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters protest in Karachi

Hundreds of people gathered around midnight in Karachi to protest against a theft of mandate in the Punjab assembly. Former Pakistani Prime Minister’s party was sidelined in a key vote in the local assembly in Punjab province, despite winning a byelection there earlier this week.

The former PM slammed the development and called on his supporters to rally across Pakistan he also claimed his opponents had resorted to political machinations in Punjab. By Friday night, protesters had started taking to the streets in major cities across Pakistan but the rallies remained peaceful.
