Techno party with Love Parade founder rocks Berlin

The German capital rocked to the sound of loud Techno pop on Saturday as thousands of people joined the "Rave the Planet" parade.

The parade set out on a route from the Kurfuerstendamm shopping boulevard to the Victory Column in the middle of Berlin's Tiergarten park.

The Love Parade grew from a small procession of 150 ravers in 1989 to a huge music festival and street party with some 1.5 million participants a decade later.

The leaders of the techno parade included Dr Motte - the now 62-year-old DJ who founded the Love Parade, once a popular annual party in Berlin.

He expressed high hopes that Berlin's electronic music culture will one day be added to the United Nations World Heritage List.
