A meeting with the Principals of the Government Technical Colleges on Technical, Vocational Education and Training, the Government Technical Institutes, the Government Technical High Schools and Vocation Training Schools was held at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw, Thursday to discuss extension of vocational training schools.
At the meeting, Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi quoted that the State Counsellor’s guidance on encouragement to the vocational training schools at the video conferencing on the impacts of COVID-19 on the construction sector.
The Union Minister said that the skilled persons are actually needed in production and service sectors of Myanmar and job opportunities and labour wages depend on skillfulness. So far, the youths are needed to train to be skilled persons in line with the job demand.
He emphasized on training of banking, accounting and logistic and language proficiency courses that are the current need at the work site through online and conducting on job trainings in cooperation with private entrepreneurs, pre-service and in-service trainings and drawing technical and vocational education and training Law (Draft) as quick as possible, access to website and email for all schools under the Technical, Vocational Education and Training Department.
The Union Minister also called for following the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports on COVID-19 prevention when the schools are opened. The attendees reported on short and long term plans on which the Union Minister and the Deputy Minister instructed the needs.
