Hundreds of Peruvians marched in support of President Pedro Castillo, a day before his first anniversary in power and calling for the closure of Congress.

The demonstration brought together trade unionists as well as Indigenous Peruvians who came from various cities in the Andes and the Amazon.Demonstrators carried various signs and showed rodents with symbols of right-leaning opposition parties. Riot police held back the demonstrators shortly before they reached the gates of parliament. They used tear gas and pushed back those who tried to advance with sticks.
