Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival: Taunggyi Balloon Festival continues its 6th Day

Taunggyi Hot Air Balloon Festival is a most well-known festival not only for people in Myanmar but also among foreigners. The Hot-Air Balloons Launching Competition continued on the 6th Day, 26th November of Taunggyi Tazaungdaing Festival.

The competition is taking place at Taunggyi Ahweiya hot balloon launching ground and the fire teams from nearby wards participated in launching the day-time and night-time balloons of various designs depicting different species of animals.

Likewise, the fantastic scene while taking off giant balloons to the sky is offering the spectators and participatory teams sense of joy and happiness. The festival is organized marking the Tazaungdaing lighting festival.

According to Myanmar tradition, launching the balloon is a light offertory for the Buddha. Since there are two kinds of competition, night time and day time, night time includes two kinds such as Meegyi which is the explosion of gun powder hot air balloon and Seinnapan which is attached by multicolored lanterns for illuminating the decorations around the body of the balloon. Day time balloon is animal figures competition. The animal figure beauty competition is divided into three categories namely two legged, four legged animal balloons and others.
