








The Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival of the Maravijaya Buddha Image kicked off on Saturday with an opening ceremony at the Water Fountain Platform of Maravijaya Buddha Park in Deckhina Thiri Township, Union Territory, Nay Pyi Taw.
The event was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife, along with the Secretary, Joint Secretary and members of the State Administration Council and their wives, union level personnel, union ministers and wives, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior military officers, Nay Pyi Taw Command Commander and officials as well as the enthusiastic pilgrims.
The festival commenced with the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by the release of 450 small hot-air balloons, fireworks displays, performances of Tazaungdaing songs, and the release of the Ahrawjan Seinnaban Hot-air Balloon.
Later, the Prime Minister and attendees delighted in the spectacle of hot-air balloons named Swan Arshin (1) Nyameegyi, Thitsar Mandaing Seinnaban, Arman Thit Nyameegyi, Aung Myin Chin Moe Kaung Kin Seinnaban, and Hsin Hna Kaung Seinnaban.
The festivities continued with entertaining programs presented by artists from the modern music troupe of Myanma Radio and Television and the Myawady Music Band, featuring lively songs and dances.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister and wife paid homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image, offering flowers, water, and light. They also participated in the lighting of 3,600 candles on the pagoda platform and paid respects to the stone inscription pagodas, warmly greeting the pilgrims.
The Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival of the Maravijaya Buddha Image is scheduled to span three days, from November 25th to 27th. The upcoming days promise a variety of programs, including the offering of 9,000 oil lamps, recitation of Maha Pathan and religious scriptures, fireworks displays, the release of hot-air balloons, and the weaving of non-stale robes.
Additionally, the Buddha Park compound will be adorned with LED lights, and there will be opportunities to explore and purchase MSME products, food items, consumer goods, and traditional snacks.
