Tazaungdaing Festival: Time of festivities and religious activities

Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival and MSME Expo is being held at MahaMyat Muni Pagoda in Mawlamyine of Mon State. During the opening ceremony on November 14th, Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein urged all to preserve traditional customs, enjoying the Tazaungdaing Festival joyously, and called for active participation in implementation for MSME development and regional progress.

The festival features booths of local products, foodstuff, consumer goods and traditional snacks along with the charity feast. On the 15th on the Full Moon Day of Tazaungmone, a ceremony to offer Shin Upagutta and Alms Bowl Floating Event were held at Seikkantha Jetty in Mawlamyine.

Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein participated in the events and floated the alms bowls into Thanlwin River. Likewise, a Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony took place at KyaikTamawtlae Pagoda in KuanYeik Village of Chaungsone Township. The Chief Minister attended the ceremony and donated Kathina Robes and offertories to the Patron Sayadaw of Mya CetiSarthintaik from Mawlamyine.
