Taung Yoe National Day: Celebration held in Kalaw with cultural performances

Taung Yoe National Day was celebrated in Bawnin Village-tract in Kalaw Township of Southern Shan State on Saturday.

Chief Minister U Aung Aung attended the celebration, and stressed the need to safeguard the cultural heritage of ethnic tribes.

During the event, cash rewards were presented to the Taung Yoe Literature and Culture Association for organizing the festival. The celebration featured the traditional cultural dances of Taung Yoe nationals. There are altogether 33 ethnic tribes in Shan State, with its own traditions, culture and customs. They have been living in harmony since yore.
