Taskforce uncovers huge illegal tobacco and drugs ring

The task force comprised of seven agencies, both state and federal in Australia has led to the arrests of members of a trans-national crime syndicate. Investigations have revealed the ring smuggled hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of illegal drugs and tobacco into the country.

The task force has worked together since November last year to set up this massive drug and tobacco bust. Seven men were arrested for importing 280kg of liquid methamphetamine from Canada, 50kg of cocaine, also originating from Canada, and 20 million cigarettes from the United Arab Emirates.
